MAGU 7th Graduation Ceremony: MINDSET CHANGE: A TOOL FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
“As a Man thinks so is he” (Prov.23:7)
The 7th Gradation of the Malawi Assemblies of God took place on the 27th of November, 2020 headed by the theme: MINDSET CHANGE: A TOOL FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. The Graduation was of great significance as graduands and all in attendance witnessed the crowning of current President of the Malawi Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Dr. Andrew Dube as the institution’s new Chancellor. The crowning symbolised the beginning of Rev. Dr. Andrew Dube’s tenure into the office of Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Enson Lwesya led the crowning ceremony together with the Chairman of MAGU Council Dr. Ted Nakhumwa.
In his acceptance speech, the Chancellor thanked his predecessor Dr. Edward Chitsonga and most importantly expressed his deepest gratitude to his Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, the state President of the Republic of Malawi for the crucial role he played in the establishment of MAGU when he was the Superintendent of Malawi Assemblies of God Church in Malawi. The Chancellor also extended his thanks to all guests, partners and the Guest of Honour, Minister of Education Honorable Agnes Nya Lonje, who represented the President.
The Chancellor expressed his satisfaction with the growth of the university has experienced, in enrollment numbers and academic delivery. He was also happy with the opening of the Blantyre Satellite Campus that is pending accreditation from National Council of Higher Education (NCHE). He further highlighted the establishment of the MTEC Journal under the newly established office of research to deal with training and mentoring lecturers and students in research and the publication of Peer-reviewed Journals. The Day was graced with other beautiful speeches made by the Guest of Hon Agness Nya lonje, Miss Khozgani Pamela Yabu representing the Undergraduate class and Mrs Loyce Mphande Banda representing the postgraduate class.
A total of two hundred and twenty-one students graduated from the three faculties at MAGU namely Faculty of Theology, Commerce and Education. The students with outstanding performances were awarded for the great effort and hard work. MAGU Partners namely: Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM), Price Waterhouse Coopers, Plan Malawi and Peach Tree gave various gifts to the outstanding students. PWC gave away monetary gifts to outstanding graduands from the Bachelor of Commerce Accounting. Plan Malawi gave away cash gifts and offered a job opportunity to the outstanding student in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Peach Tree awarded the best-performing students under their sponsorship
