In his lecture, Honourable Mtambo stated that as a country we have lost the value of some important symbols of our country namely the national anthem and the national flag. The national anthem has been cut short to 1 stanza yet it has 3 stanzas, the current young generation does not understand the symbolism of the colours on our flag and the rising sun itself. He, therefore, encouraged the need to embrace change but never to forget our values as a country. The Minister also re-emphasized the key fundamentals that the Government is being guided by; the Chakwera High Five championed by His Excellency the State President of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Mindset Change championed by the Vice President Republic of Malawi Right Honourable Dr. Saulosi Chilima.
In his conclusion, Honourable Mtambo indicated that Civic Education is a collective responsibility and not just for the government; it is the responsibility of all Malawi Citizens. He also stated that discipline and commitment is a pathway to realise goals and dreams we have as a nation. Further, he retaliated that the values we uphold as a united country regulates our behaviour as a nation channelling us into a destination of prosperity for every Malawian.
