CALL FOR PAPERS
MAGU ETHNE JOURNAL
Special Issue: “Religions’ Response to Pandemics”
The MAGU Ethne Journal (published by Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU)) is inviting scholars and academics in Malawi, Africa and globally to respond to the call for articles on the theme: “Religions’ Response to Pandemics.” How religion engages with society during times of pandemics such as Influenza, HIV-AIDS and Covid-19 engenders debates and different mis/interpretations, including the prevalence of conspiracy theories. In Malawi and indeed Africa, even historically, the religious response to pandemics has been at times theologically confusing because such explanations have tended to prey on people’s fear of a dreaded disease rather than encouraging national and international efforts to deal with the pandemics through medical, social and other interventions.
This Special Issue invites manuscripts that address the ways different religions (as broadly defined to include both normative and non-normative religions) respond to pandemics, particularly in the current context of COVID-19 pandemic.
The MAGU Ethne Journal is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal and publishes original research and review articles, including book reviews. It mobilises scholars in religion and theology from Africa and globally through critical studies in Theology, Religious Studies and related disciplines in the Arts, Humanities, Cultural Studies, African Studies and Social Sciences. The journal welcomes manuscripts that are historical, contemporary, empirical, theoretical and interdisciplinary.
Dr. Felix Chimera Nyika is the editor of MAGU Ethne Journal.
The journal is published annually by MAGU which also publishes two other journals: MAGU Education and Social Science Journal and MAGU Business Journal.
