MAGU Wolves and She-Wolves emerged as winners of the National Bank Mo626 College Basketball Tournament in the Male and Female categories.
The finals were hosted by African Bible College in the capital city Lilongwe on 12 March 2022. The men’s team beat MUBAS Wildcats (formerly Polytechnic) with a narrow margin of 1 point where at full-time, game results were MAGU 63, MUBAS 62.
The She-Wolves displayed a dominant force as they beat KUHES Ganglions with a difference of 59 points where at full-time the game results were MAGU She-wolves 92, KUHES 33. This victory meant MAGU She-wolves are still the undefeated back to back champions of the tournament.
The team players also displayed individual game brilliance. Mwaiwathu Kadammanja scored 25 points making her the winner of the Final’s most valuable player in the female category. Mwaiwathu was awarded the MVP Trophy and prize money. Orlyne Londo also displayed her accurate shooting skills in the Three-point shooting contest and emerged the winner. Tinotenda Nhira was awarded the Men’s finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the men’s finals. Both teams walked away with prize money of 2.5 Million Kwacha each
