Assistant University Registrar - Academics

The Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU), an affiliate of the Malawi Assemblies of God was established to provide a high level system of education driven by strong Christian values and standards. The University is registered, recognized and accredited by Malawi Government through National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). MAGU is urgently seeking to fill the following vacant position of the University Registrar.

The Assistant University Registrar reports to the University Registrar and is responsible for provision of leadership and strategic direction in the management of academic services

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  1. Master’s degree in Education/Management or related field from accredited and internationally recognized universities;
  2. Three (3) years’ relevant experience in a similar position

Specific Requirements

  1. Practicing Christian
  2. Maintaining and preparing academic calendar for all academic programs of the University
  3. Compiling enrollment statistics i.e. issuing admission letters to new eligible students
  4. Maintaining records for students both manually and electronically and making sure they are up to date
  5. Anything to do with Student Management System issues
  6. Anything to do with HRM issues
  7. Planning and implements the registration process for classes.
  8. Working with other administrators to coordinate times and locations for class meetings and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  9. Being secretary to University Committees
  10. Making necessary communication with students regarding academic life at the University
  11. Planning commencement activities and preparing information such as honors lists, transcripts and class rankings.
  12. Working hand in hand with the Examination officer and other staff to maintain quality standards during examination period.
  13. Advising students regarding loan and scholarship eligibility.
  14. Helping in enforcement of collecting tuition and other related fees.
  15. Recommending useful technological updates and implementations to create a more efficient work environment.
  16. Facilitating the movement of students through their programs,
  17. Interpreting and implementing academic policies
  18. Any other duties as assigned from time to time
