What to Expect as a New Student

Developing leaders. Changing the world!

Once you are admitted to MAGU as a new student you will be expected to semester-register in the first week. The new student will have to pay tuition fees or part payment to be semester-registered.

All new students are given 

  1. Student ID number and corresponding credentials for their student portal, MAGU student Email and Google Classroom, from the IT Office.
  2. Student ID card through the students council
  3. MAGUmed card from the MAGU medical scheme cover

All students are expected to bring with them at least a smartphone and plan for data bundle. But we also have computer labs in the library bulding plus we have WiFi on major buildings on campus for free internet access which is available to all registered students.

Orientation for New Students

The first week of the semester is reserved for registrations and all new students are also expected to attend orientation on the following:

1. Registrar's Office

Welcome remarks. Campus tour for classrooms, hostels, Library, etc. And student’s handbook which has guidelines on Dos and Donts

2. IT Dept

IT Office orientation on Student Portal, MAGU student Email, and Google Classroom.

3. Exam officer

Orientation on conduct in examination rooms and expected behaviour.

4. Librarian

How to access the library and the books and the expected conduct in the library, etc

5. Deans

Deans provide further insights about their respective faculties and address expectations on industry perspectives

6. Account's Office

Presentation on fees payment structures and deadlines

7. Security Officer

Safety and security tips on campus and off-campus covering physical and fraud issues. Includes a presentation from the Malawi Police representative.

8. Students Council

Welcoming remarks by Student Council President and brief expectations at MAGU

All new students are reminded that MAGU is a christian university rooted in Christian values, and we expect all our students to maintain such Christian values.

What to Study

At MAGU we have 20 undgraduate programmes. Whether you have just finished your MSCE and are looking for undergraduate degree, or you transfering from another university, MAGU has something for you.

How to Apply

Applicant must have atleast MSCE, IGSCE or any other internationally recognised qualification comparable to ‘O’ level certificates with at least six credit passes (atleast ‘6’ at MSCE or ‘C’ at IGCSE) including English Language

Fees

There are average costs per programme per semester per mode of delivery. Fees refer to tuition costs but there are extra costs like food and accomodation, transport, etc.

Modes of Delivery

At MAGU we have three different modes of deliverring classes; Regular, Weekend, and ODEL. And these are availble at both of our campuses; Lilongwe and Blantyre campuses
